You really need to understand this; when you deprive your body of food, the more likely the weight loss is coming from water and muscle, NOT FAT. This is a problem.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods, but you need to order right to keep it healthy. So here’s yet another of my quick weight loss tips on how to order right.

First the no no’s.

1. No, no on “tempura", it’s right up there with corn dogs. It's just a batter-fried fat fiesta for your arteries.

2. No, no on "dynamite" anything. It’s just something good baked in a glob of mayo.

3. No, no on anything called the "crunch" or “spider” roll. It’s just a creative way to say something is fried.

Now here’s the yes, yes’s.

1. Start your meal with miso or a sea weed salad. They're super-low in calories, taste great, typically fat-free, and they help fill you up (with the good stuff).

2. Sashimi is your friend. It’s really just sushi without rice, but sashimi is often pricier than sushi because you need to order more pieces to fill you up. An alternative is to just order sushi pieces and only eat half of the rice.

3. If brown rice is available, order it (all though it’s rare in sushi places). And don't hesitate to ask your sushi chef to serve your meal (whatever it is) with less rice.

Order right and stay on course to meet your weight loss goals.

Plus, when you go off your food diet, you’ll just add even more fat to the fat you didn’t lose in the first place. It's a vicious weight loss - weight gain cycle that never ends on these fast weight loss diets.

Fat loss is best achieved when weight is lost by eating to get healthy. Strive for a weight loss of no more than 1-2 pounds per week.

One pound of weight is equivalent to 3500 calories. By making small changes to your food selections and getting in some exercise, you can eliminate 250 calories a day from food and expend 250 calories a day from exercise. You can lose one pound (of mostly fat) per week. And keep it off.

Eat to get healthy and lose weight. It’s a win, win situation.
