New weight loss surgery alternative involves no incisions. Yep, you heard that right.
This new weight loss surgery alternative eliminates having to cut into the stomach and change anatomy. It's a new, less invasive option. This is a big step in the world of weight loss. Now there's a new weight loss surgery option that's less invasive. The TOGA, performed under direct endoscopic visualization with specialized instruments that pass into the stomach through the mouth. Once in the stomach, it staples part of the stomach together to create a small restrictive pouch that is intended to catch food as it enters the stomach, the result is patients experience a feeling of fullness after just a small meal...let the weight loss begin. Unlike a gastric bypass, surgeons do not cut into you or remove part of the stomach, and there is no rerouting of the intestinal tract. What does this mean to you? How about fewer side effects, like less pain, quicker recovery, shortened hospital stay and decreased complications, as well as a no of scarring of tissue. Sounds good so far. In a recent pilot study overseas patients receiving the TOGA procedure lost more than a third of their excess body weight, by 12 months, their excess weight loss averaged almost 40 percent. Pretty impressive. The only side effects were a little bit of discomfort in my throat but other than that, no one has complained about any pain in the abdominal area. Unfortunately, the procedure is only available to patients in the U.S. who enrolled in the clinical trial. The purpose of the TOGA trial is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the TOGA procedure. If this study is successful, hopefully it will result in FDA approval of the TOGA System. That will allow anybody interested in this procedure to be treated outside of clinical trials. Stayed tuned to burnfatrunning for all the latest news on weight loss, and I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything on this new procedure.
