The Mediterranean Diet Pyramid has a proven track record. For the people of the Mediterranean have the lowest recorded rates of chronic diseases and the highest life expectancy in the world. And that's with very limited medical services. Sure says a lot for eating healthy and a healthy lifestyle. The first thing you notice when you see the Mediterranean Pyramid is that much of the food consists of plant products. This is in contrast to the typical western diet where much of the food we eat comes from animals, high in saturated fats. And we wonder why we have a weight problem….hmmm.
