Our healthy breakfast recipes help you lose weight, but there's so much more...

Healthy breakfast recipes not only help you lose weight, they also recharge your body with what it needs for better concentration, problem-solving skills and eye-hand coordination.
A healthy breakfast not only starts your day off right, it also lays the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. People who take the time for a healthy breakfast are more likely to: 1. Be more alert, with better concentration (and productivity throughout the morning) 2. Control their weight (won’t be ravenous by lunch time and over eat) 3. Have lower cholesterol (which reduces the risk of heart disease) 4. Consume more vitamins and minerals (and less fat and cholesterol)

If your excuse for missing breakfast is lack of time, try figuring out what you'll eat the night before. Then get up 10 minutes earlier and dig in, or pack it up to take with you to work. To make a healthy breakfast recipe each day, choose one item from at least three of the following four food groups: 1. Fruits and vegetables: Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables or 100 percent juice without added sugar (check juice labels for the chemical sweeteners...you don't want'em).

2. Grains: Whole-grain rolls, bagels, hot or cold whole-grain cereals, low-fat bran muffins, crackers, or melba toast.

3. Dairy: Skim milk, low-fat yogurt cups or low-fat cheeses, such as cottage cheese (keep'em natural).

4. Protein: Hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter, lean slices of meat and poultry, or fish, such as water-packed tuna or slices of salmon.
These food groups provide complex carbohydrates, protein and a small amount of fat — a combination that delays hunger symptoms for hours.
One of my favorite ways to start the day is a smoothie with all the good stuff just mixed in together. You just drink all the nutrients and energy you need to kick your day off. Works for me. You can even make healthy breakfast choices at fast-food restaurants. Whole-grain bagels, rolls and English muffins are better for you than fat-filled doughnuts, scones, croissants or biscuits. Skip the over sized breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, bacon, sausage and whole milk. Your heart and arteries will thank you. Smiles…Gigi
