Losing belly fat is not
just about looking good in a bathing suit.

Losing belly fat is also about lowering your risks of heart disease, diabetes and even certain types of cancers.

belly fat

Yep, that’s right; stomach fat can lead to all kinds of chronic disease. So you need to lose it, but lose it the right way.

When you go on a crash diet of some sort, you’re basically just starving yourself. Sure you’ll lose weight, but it’s really hard on your body's system.

What happens is your body needs protein right, and you’re starving it of protein.

So what it does is protect your fat (starvation survival mode) and go straight to your muscles to find protein to live on.

So your muscles get smaller, and you look like you’ve lost weight.

But here’s the rub, your fat is all still there.

So when you go off your crash diet and back to your regular eating habits (which got you into this spot in the first place), your muscles stay smaller, but your body fat gets even fatter.

It’s a vicious cycle that goes like this; every time you go on a crash diet, you lose some weight; go off the diet and you get even fatter than before. Go on a crash diet, you lose some weight; go off the diet and you get even fatter than before; See where this is going, not a pretty picture.

Now that you have an idea of how your body works you just need a plan to burn belly fat that will work over a reasonable period of time. There are no short cuts here. Take the turtle approach, slow and steady drops the belly fat and keeps it off.

So to lose belly fat, you’ll need to lose weight all over your body. Spot reductions are not realistic. But if you carry most of the fat in your mid-section, here’s the good news, that’s where you'll see the fat disappear first.

Here are my tips for burning belly fat:

1. Exercise: despite the fact we're all workaholics on a constant caffeine jag, we just can’t seem to find the time to work out. But to burn belly fat you have to start making time to take care of yourself.

Look into a walking program to get started, or if you and your doctor feel you’re up to it jump right into a running program. Or get a personal trainer if that’s what it takes. But do something, anything to start burning fat, your body wants to drop the fat but it needs you to participate.

2. Eat healthy: (avoiding trans fats is a no brainer but I had to say it.) Look into a healthy eating plan where you’re eating 5 times a day and keep track of what you eat. Sticking with fruit and veggies mostly is a good way to stay healthy and lose weight. Try to get organic when ever you can and fresh if possible. You can blend fruits and veggies into smoothies and soups. I just got a Magic bullet and I love it, it makes eating healthy soooooo easy.

3. Stress Reduction: Stress leads to mindless over eating so pay attention here. Learn some relaxation techniques to help you escape the everyday BS of life with out diving into a carton of ice cream. I like meditation and breathing exercises but there are plenty more for you to check out.

Also make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Only you know how much you need, but if you’re routinely feeling sleepy and grumpy then you probably need to get more sleep.

Enough talk, now it’s time to get committed. A good start would be to check out my free weight loss downloads, use one or two or all of them. You can't beat the price and if you stick with them, you will lose your belly fat.

Smiles…Gigi
